How to use Stream-Tools.com in OBS

There are two main ways to bring these tools into your stream, so pick whichever fits your setup best, then follow the steps for that route below.

1

Window Capture

Easiest set up
  1. Open https://www.stream-tools.com in your browser.
  2. Open your scene in OBS.
  3. In the Sources tab in OBS, click the + button.
  4. Select Window Capture from the list. On the next pop up, name your source and click OK.
  5. In the Window dropdown, select the browser window you want to capture (example: [opera.exe] Stream-Tools.com - Opera).
  6. Leave the other options as their defaults, and click OK.
  7. Resize and position your window in the OBS preview. You can use the Alt key while resizing to crop.
  8. To interact with the tools, use your web browser.
Pros Easier and quicker to set up for a quick one time use.
Cons Unable to use the transparency feature; more cumbersome when using multiple tools.
2

OBS Browser Capture

Recommended set up
  1. Open your scene in OBS.
  2. In the Sources tab in OBS, click the + button.
  3. Select Browser. Name your Browser source (if using multiple tools, it's recommended to name it after the specific tool this source will handle), and click OK.
  4. In URL, enter the address for the specific tool you want this source to show, for example https://stream-tools.com/#countdown for the Countdown Timer. Each Browser source should have its own tool URL so they open independently.
  5. Set the size to 1200 x 800, which will ensure all settings and options fit on the OBS Interact window, and click OK.
  6. Resize and position your source in the OBS preview. You can use the Alt key while resizing to crop.
  7. To interact with the tools, highlight the source in the OBS Sources tab. Just above the Sources tab should be a button labelled Interact. Click it.
  8. A new window will open. This is the instance of the site/tool being used for this specific Browser source. You can interact with it here (add time, start the timer, spin the wheel, roll the dice, etc.).
Pros Easier to manage multiple tools at the same time; can use features like Transparency mode so the tools can overlay the main capture without obscuring too much.
Cons Slightly more complicated to set up; can take some getting used to opening the Interact window to view or interact with the tools.
